Dr. JoMei Chang

CEO & Co-Founder

Dr. JoMei Chang, CEO and Co-Founder of Vitria Technology, has over thirty years of entrepreneurial expertise founding and leading successful ventures.

Dr. Chang has been profiled in many major publications, including being named as a leading CEO by Fortune magazine and Entrepreneur of the Year by BusinessWeek.

Dr. Chang founded Vitria with a mission to “use technology to transform business.” Under her leadership, Vitria became a “Fast 50” Internet Company during the internet boom, achieving a very successful IPO. In 2007, she took the company private to build an Operational Intelligence Platform focusing on AI and Operational Intelligence solutions, anticipating the critical role of AI-driven insights in supporting Digital Transformation.

In 2020, Dr. Chang led the company to apply Operational Intelligence to AIOps (an emerging new area in IT Operations) in Telecom. Network and Operations is one of the most complex and demanding in the Telecom Industry. The product, called VIA AI, operationalizes AI at massive scale to improve IT Operations. VIA AI is known for its ability to “detect issues 20 minutes before customer impact.”

Prior to Vitria, Dr. Chang is credited with inventing and patenting the first reliable multicast protocol, while working at AT&T Bell Labs. She co-founded Teknekron Software Systems (now TIBCO), and constructed the first digital Trader Workstation, which revolutionized Wall Street. She, together with Dale Skeen, created the first high-speed message bus, which had profound impact on high performance, real-time computing. 

Dr. Chang holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan and a Ph.D. in Database Management Systems, from Purdue University. Her career reflects a deep dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology to meet the evolving needs of businesses worldwide.

Dr. Dale Skeen

CTO & Co-Founder

Dr. Dale Skeen is the Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of Vitria Technology, where he leads the Product, Engineering, and Research teams in harnessing AI and Generative AI to drive advancements in AIOps, Operational Intelligence, and “Self-Healing Digital Operations.”

As a pioneer in many of the enabling technologies in today’s computing landscape, Dr. Skeen holds numerous patents across key technology domains, including scalable, distributed architectures, fault-tolerant computing, real-time analytics, Complex Event Processing, Business Process Management (BPM), and publish/subscribe messaging.

Prior to founding Vitria, Dr. Skeen co-founded TIBCO, where he served as Chief Scientist and co-invented “The Information Bus,” a transformative technology for real-time data integration and communication. Before that, he was an awarded Research Scientist at IBM’s Almaden Research Center. 

Dr. Skeen has held faculty positions at Cornell University and the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC, Berkeley.

Andrew Colby

VICE PRESIDENT, VIA AIOPS

Andrew Colby has been working with telecom and IP networks, operational support systems (OSS) and data analytics for over 30 years. Currently, he is leading the strategy and sales of VIA AIOps at Vitria. Andrew’s prior experience includes product manager of 5G analytic products at Guavus, heading engineering and solutions teams at big data appliance inventor Netezza, and engineering roles at NexTone Communications, Lucent Technologies and at Avaya Communications.

Andrew holds a master’s degrees in management from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, and computer science from the University of California at Los Angeles. He earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Rutgers University.
